Apus is the 67th biggest constellation in the night sky. It is best seen between latitudes 7°N and 90°S. Its brightest star is α Apodis with a magnitude of 3.8.
Apus is best known for the double star δ Apodis. This wide double can easily be split with binoculars or even very keen eyes. δ Apodis consists of two orange giants of magnitudes 4.7 and 5.3 orbiting each other about 310 light-years away.
